Module Overview

Module Specification Detail

What It Is

The XHC1904C-MIPI is a fully domestic MIPI CSI-2 camera module designed for embedded OEM integration, delivering true-colour high-definition imaging at resolutions up to 2560 × 2048 via a 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 interface with support for YUV422 8-bit output.

Performance

The module captures images at 2560 × 2048 resolution with a 5.5 μm pixel pitch, achieving a minimum effective illumination of 0.001 lux at IRE50 with SNR≥30dB at 25 fps. Frame rates are selectable at 25, 30, or 50 fps. Dynamic range reaches 72 dB with WDR disabled and 100 dB with WDR enabled. Optical specifications include a 16 mm focal length, F1.2 aperture, 50° horizontal and 37.2° vertical field of view, and −6.8% optical distortion. Power consumption is 2.1 W at 25 fps.

Key Technical Features

  • 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 output using CSI-2 Legacy YUV4:2:2 8-bit protocol over a 20-pin 0.5 mm FPC connector, with signal levels at 1.8 V.
  • UART half-duplex serial control interface at 115200 bps supporting frame rate, exposure, gain, contrast, brightness, noise reduction, gamma, image flip, WDR, and synchronisation mode configuration.
  • Three synchronisation modes: internal sync (default), external sync mode 0 (rising-edge trigger for continuous output), and external sync mode 1 (per-pulse single-frame output).
  • 3D noise reduction, wide dynamic range (WDR), and image flip/mirror controllable via serial command protocol with checksum-validated frames.

Platform Compatibility

The XHC1904C-MIPI is designed for integration into commercial imaging systems, UAV payloads, and embedded host platforms requiring a compact MIPI CSI-2 camera source with serial configuration capability via UART.

High-Resolution MIPI Output

4-lane MIPI CSI-2 outputs 2560 × 2048 YUV422 8-bit video at signal levels of 1.8 V over a standard 20-pin FPC connector. This interface is directly compatible with mainstream application processors and FPGA platforms used in UAV and embedded imaging systems.

All-Day Colour Low-Light Imaging

The module achieves effective illumination from 0.001 lux at IRE50 with SNR≥30dB, enabling colour imaging across the full range from starlight to full daylight. Combined with a 5.5 μm pixel pitch and F1.2 aperture, it maintains colour fidelity in challenging light environments.

Wide Dynamic Range Control

WDR mode extends the usable dynamic range from 72 dB to 100 dB, allowing the sensor to simultaneously render bright and dark regions in the same scene without clipping. This is enabled and configured through the serial UART control protocol.

Flexible Synchronisation Architecture

Three synchronisation modes — internal, external edge-trigger (mode 0), and external per-pulse (mode 1) — allow the camera to be precisely timed to a host system or multi-camera array. Mode 1 allows single-frame capture on each external trigger pulse for precise frame-aligned imaging.

Designed for the Field

Embedded OEM Integration

The XHC1904C-MIPI is engineered as an OEM camera source for host systems requiring high-resolution MIPI CSI-2 video input with runtime serial configuration.

UAV and Airborne Payload Applications

The module's compact dimensions, low power draw, and MIPI CSI-2 interface make it suitable for integration into UAV camera payloads and airborne imaging systems.

Commercial Machine Vision and Inspection

All-day colour imaging, selectable frame rates, and wide dynamic range enable deployment in commercial machine vision and inspection platform integrations.

Embedded OEM Camera Integration

System integrators building custom imaging appliances require a reliable MIPI CSI-2 camera source with runtime configurability. The XHC1904C-MIPI eliminates the need for a separate image-signal processor by providing on-board processing with serial command access to all imaging parameters. The 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 output at 1.8 V signal levels is directly compatible with mainstream SoCs and FPGAs. The UART protocol enables host-controlled exposure, gain, and synchronisation without additional hardware.

  • Output Format: 4Lane MIPI CSI-2 YUV422 8bit
  • Connector: X05C2020TZ-FPC 0.5 mm 20-pin
  • Power: DC 5 V, 2.1 W @ 25 fps
  • Serial Control: UART 115200 bps 8N1 half-duplex

UAV Payload and Airborne Imaging

UAV camera payloads require compact, low-power MIPI camera modules that output standard video formats directly to an onboard processor. The XHC1904C-MIPI delivers 2560 × 2048 colour video with selectable frame rates suited to survey, inspection, and situational awareness missions. The module weighs ≤ 350 g including the lens and operates across −40 °C to +55 °C, maintaining performance in airborne thermal environments. External synchronisation modes enable frame-accurate triggering from a flight controller.
