XHC8050C-ABF Long-Range Starlight Color Camera
0.0006 lux @ 25 fps minimum illumination, 2,280 m detection range, long-range starlight surveillance camera.
System Detail
What It Is
The XHC8050C-ABF is a professional night vision surveillance camera from the XHC8 Series, classified as an Ultra Low Light EO Surveillance Camera. It uses a large-format starlight CMOS sensor and high-aperture long-range optics to deliver continuous color imaging under natural night-sky conditions, with no auxiliary infrared illuminator required.
Performance
The XHC8050C-ABF reaches a minimum effective illumination of 0.0006 lux @ 25 fps, a detection range of 2,280 m and a recognition range of 570 m against a 1.7 × 0.5 m human target under the US NVESD Measurement Standard. Dynamic range runs 72 dB (WDR Off) / 84–120 dB (WDR On, Adjustable), holding detail in mixed night-sky and artificial-light scenes.
Key Technical Features
- ONVIF-compliant IP streaming over RTSP and PELCO, reachable via RJ45 Ethernet, WiFi or optional 4G LTE
- Onboard AI alerting with global, cross-border and regional detection modes
- 3D noise reduction, electronic image stabilisation and fog-penetration enhancement for degraded-visibility scenes
- Motorised Auto Back Focus for remote focus adjustment after mounting
Platform Compatibility
The enclosed camera suits perimeter fence lines, critical-infrastructure compounds and vehicle-approach corridors, mounting directly onto poles or fence-line towers with motorised back-focus for post-install adjustment.
Identification-Grade Range
Beyond detection and recognition, the XHC8050C-ABF resolves targets to identification standard out to 356 m against the same 1.7 × 0.5 m target basis. This closes the loop from initial alert to a confirmed, actionable identification without switching sensors.
Full HD Starlight Sensor
The 1.8-inch CMOS sensor uses a 13 × 13 µm pixel pitch to output 1920 × 1080 resolution. The larger pixel area is what lets the sensor gather usable signal at starlight illumination levels without amplifying noise.
Enclosed Field Housing
The camera shares its optical and electronic performance with the equivalent Long-Range SKU in the series. At 213 × 102 × 102 mm and 1.46 kg ± 0.03 kg, it mounts directly to a pole, wall or tower bracket without additional weatherproofing.
Wide Operating Envelope
The unit is rated across -40°C to +70°C, with storage tolerance extended to -55°C to +85°C. That spread covers exposed mast, coastal and desert installations without a separate environmental variant.

Designed for the Field
Perimeter & Approach Monitoring
Built for facility perimeter lines and approach corridors that need continuous long-range coverage without auxiliary lighting.
Critical Infrastructure Security
The 50 mm optic balances reach and field of view for pipeline, substation and compound-boundary monitoring under starlight conditions.
Systems Integration
System integrators connect the camera into third-party VMS platforms over ONVIF and RTSP, or embed it as the fixed sensor in a larger security programme.
Facility Perimeter Security
Fence lines and approach roads around a facility need continuous coverage that can tell a person from a vehicle well before either reaches the boundary, without lighting that announces the camera position. A single pole or fence-line mount has to hold that distance in full darkness. Detection range of 2,280 m and recognition range of 570 m against a 1.7 × 0.5 m target keep a target classified well before it reaches the line.
- Detection Range 2,280 m
- Recognition Range 570 m
- Field of View 28°
- AI Detection Modes Global Alert, Cross-Border Alert, Regional Alert
Critical Infrastructure Monitoring
Substations, pipelines and compound boundaries share a common requirement: long, unlit stretches of perimeter that a patrol cannot watch continuously. Starlight-level sensitivity removes the dependency on site lighting that would otherwise need separate installation and maintenance. Identification range of 356 m and a minimum illumination floor of 0.0001 lux @ 5 fps keep the scene usable at the darkest part of the night.
- Identification Range 356 m
- Illumination Range 0.0001 lux to 100,000 lux
- Dynamic Range 72 dB (WDR Off) / 84–120 dB (WDR On, Adjustable)
- AI Video Analytics Range ≥ 120 m (3× manual zoom extension available)
Pole & Pan-Tilt Integration
Integrators packaging fence-line pole cameras or compact pan-tilt heads need the imaging core alone, not a finished housing, so it can be matched to their own mechanical and thermal design. Remote back-focus lets the optic be tuned after the unit is sealed into its final enclosure. Fixed-mount dimensions of 213 × 102 × 102 mm at 1.46 kg ± 0.03 kg, powered from 12 V ± 3 V (PoE Optional), keep installation to a single pole or wall bracket.
- Dimensions 213 × 102 × 102 mm
- Weight 1.46 kg ± 0.03 kg
- Operating Voltage 12 V ± 3 V (PoE Optional)
- Onboard Storage 32 GB Default, Expandable to 128 GB
