Star-Navi today announced the Advanced Infrared Signature Reduction Fabric, a coated textile material designed to reduce the thermal signature of personnel and equipment under infrared imaging without relying on the heat blocking insulation used in conventional IR camouflage.
Rather than trapping body heat behind a thick barrier, the fabric carries a specially developed infrared signature reducing coating applied to a textile substrate. The coating is designed to lower the infrared radiation energy emitted from the fabric\'s outer surface even as heat continues to pass through the material, allowing the finished textile to remain thin, soft, and breathable rather than bulky. Star-Navi supplies the material as a raw coated fabric that customers can cut, sew, and integrate into their own garments, covers, or concealment systems.
Star-Navi has demonstrated the material\'s performance through side by side thermal camera comparisons rather than specifications alone, including a close range test at approximately three meters and a field concealment test at approximately fifty meters, in which a covered subject\'s thermal signature was substantially reduced against the surrounding environment on camera.
